How Eating Fruit Can Boost Your Health

One of the most important providers of vitamins and minerals in our diet is fruit. Unfortunately, in the western diet this is often overlooked and we continue to consume vast quantities of protein and, especially, starchy foods. The result being an increase in the prevalence of diseases such as diabetes and obesity. It is important to look at the benefits of fruit more closely.

The following benefits are:

1. Fruit can simply be washed and eaten and, therefore, is very easy to prepare. Another advantage that comes from this is that there are no cooking utensils or pots to wash afterwards.

2. Fruit tastes very good. Many fruits taste very good and look particularly appetizing with their bright colors. In fact a lot of people would consider fruit as a special treat or as a desert.

3. Fruit needs less energy to digest and absorb in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, a lot of people discover they feel more energized and fresh and report needing less sleep.

4. Whilst on a diet of mainly fruit it is very difficult to actually become fat. The result of this is that the body fat level will fall leaving you feel healthy and lean.

5. Fruit has a high fiber content. It can, therefore, help with the transition of food through the gastrointestinal tract and can help in preventing and relieving symptoms that affect the gut such as constipation. When people suffer with constipation a lot of the toxic waste sits stagnant in the bowel which can get absorbed into the system. As a result of this, these toxins can cause illness, lethargy and the feeling of being generally unwell. Eating a fruit diet can prevent this from occurring.

6. The digestion and absorption of fruit leaves very few waste products in the body. This can lower the wear and tear on the various organs in the body and therefore reduce the rate of aging.

7. Your body will regularly cleanse and detoxify itself on a diet of mainly fruit. The waste products from the digestion of protein, starches and dairy products can accumulate over many years. A lot of these can be removed after eating fruit for only a couple of days. This can result in feeling a lot healthier and will also reduce the damage on the body.
