Discover How To Quit Smoking Without NRT ( Nicotine Replacement Therapy).

By Chris James

Smoking is a habit that many people started intentionally but now struggle to shrug off. When the urge to smoke presents itself you hardly know what to do apart from pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. Some people have ventured into rehabilitative therapies that require smokers to try out NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy). NRT treatments include nicotine smoke patches and bubble-gums but these contain nicotine and don't really help you quit. Instead you can quit smoking without NRT and the process is 100% natural.

Substitute cigarette smoking with an activity that will occupy your mind for long periods of time. You can pick up a sport or even a new hobby to fill in the times when you would normally smoke. If you're focused enough you will soon realise that you're not smoking during those times and that it is only afterwards that you will smoke. If you do this for a year you will see your addiction disappear like a wallet filled with money in a poor neighbourhood.

Constantly remind yourself about the possible risks behind smoking. Cancer, bronchitis and TB are known side effects of smoking that you should tell yourself about every time you decide to smoke. You can even go to the extreme of looking at pictures of damaged lungs just to scare away your addiction. I wasn't able to stop because I still saw the benefits of smoking, I still liked it.

After you do this you should proceed with making a long list of the advantages of not smoking. On average non-smokers live longer than smokers; you're a whole lot healthier when you don't smoke and you will always have more money to spend on other luxuries. What you don't realise is that you still smoke because you see the benefits of smoking instead of the benefits of not, this is a major psychological misconception that has to be changed. Repeat these as a mantra or even draw up a visible list.

Quitting is harder if you don't have people putting pressure on you to stop. Make sure that people know full well about your intentions. These people should be really close friends and family, people whose advice you value and would never reject. To make this more effective you should also tell them to do certain things if they see you smoking, like taking the box of cigarettes and ripping them apart.

Acupuncture is the pressing of tiny needles into the pores of your skin. Acupuncture is a good old Chinese technique which is now used by smokers to help them quit their habit. Acupuncture is known to cut out the craving for nicotine very effectively since it opens up energy reserves and stimulates the release of endorphins, the natural feel good hormones. Acupuncture will give the alternative feeling of pleasure that nicotine extracts through endorphin release.

Hypnosis treatment has been working for centuries now when it comes to changing the beliefs that the mind has been taught to believe over the years. As such, hypnosis should be used to change your beliefs about smoking. During this therapy you will be asked to repeat statements that express your desire to quit and the reasons why. Slowly your mind will be taught to see cigarettes in a negative light and eventually you won't feel the urge to smoke.

Natural herbs also work as an alternative to Nicotine Replacement Therapy. Try looking for Lobelia and Passion Flower, they work for some people. - 26706
